At first all airports within 120 nautical mile (220 km) radius from the eruption (including Reykjavík, Keflavík and Akureyri) were closed and all domestic and international flights were suspended until it was determined that the volcanic ash did not pose any danger to air traffic.

Our air ambulance operation was not affected by the eruption as it is quite small and the effects are very localized.
There is no way of knowing how long this eruption will last, the last time an eruption occurred in this area was in 1821 and that lasted for 2 years.

Mýflug Air has aircraft availability for flights with scientists, journalists or tourists if so requested.
