The eruption in Grímsvötn seen from a distance
We have now started offering Tour 7, which along with covering Askja, Kverkfjöll (Vatnajökull) and Mt. Herdubreid also covers the recent eruption area in Grímsvötn, located south-west of Kverkfjöll mountains. Steam still rises from the now exposed volcano which normally is covered by snow, a large part of Vatnajökull is now covered with black volcanic ash and the stillness is occasionally broken by explosions from the crater. All this can been observed by a trip with Myflug Air!
The Icelandic Meteorology Office has published a Grímsvötn eruption timeline with pictures on their website, click to visit.
